AI is everywhere but still unreachable for many
Last week, I was an Impact Speaker at the 2025 Flagship Fellowship for Watson Institute. The event brought together 25 exceptional social entrepreneurs from China, Mexico, and various parts of the United States. It was an inspiring gathering of innovative minds dedicated to making a difference! At the event I spoke about what drove us to found Flintolabs and shared what we teach students in our program.
I talked about how our students learn LLM concepts but do not stop at that, and apply it for market research and competitive analysis. I discussed how they use Gamma app to convey their ideas so beautifully. And the tips and tricks they learn about how to more effectively use AI for coding.
I immediately got a lot of questions on if these were tools beyond ChatGPT and if I could share a resource sheet of the tools with the founders.
That made me think - our students at Flintolabs would very well be in the top 1% of those in the world that know how to use different tools to make different processes better. In a world where AI is everywhere, the hard part is finding out the right needle in the haystack that’ll help you succeed!

Why AI skills matter for high schoolers right now
📈 78% of organizations use AI, but only 10% of students feel prepared
According to recent McKinsey research, 78% of organizations already use AI in at least one function, but a report by Heartland Forward, Gallup and Walton family foundation reports only 10% of K-12 students feel prepared with AI skills for their future. Students who develop real AI experience in high school are positioning themselves ahead of 90% of their peers.
College admissions officers are taking notice. As one admissions expert notes, "achievements that greatly increased your chances of acceptance a decade ago may barely move the needle today." Students with AI project portfolios are standing out in ways traditional extracurriculars no longer can.
🎯 Internships help you stand out
Bigfuture College Board states that internships and hands-on experiences "will help you stand out from other college applicants" because they show "you're interested in taking on responsibility and learning new things." In today's competitive admissions landscape, real-world experience isn't just helpful—it's becoming essential.
Early work experience demonstrates initiative, professionalism, and practical skills that can't be taught in traditional classrooms alone.

AI-powered behavioral analysis and care app for pups
This week, we're highlighting Hamsavardini Eswaran, a 7th grader from North Carolina and a student of Flintolabs who built "Puppy Speak" - an AI-powered app for new dog owners. Hamsa was trying to convince her mom to get a dog when she realized many parents hesitate because they lack resources for first-time pet ownership.
So she built the solution herself. Puppy Speak allows users to upload pet photos to understand their mood, chat with an AI assistant about dog ownership questions, and complete quests to earn points.
"Are you holding off on getting a pup because you are worried about being a first-time pet parent?" Hamsa asks in her pitch. Her app provides the answer.

Here's a parent review from our 5 star rating on Google:
"My daughter (age 13) took a summer camp course on AI and Entrepreneurship and it was amazing. In one short week, my daughter learned different AI tools (beyond ChatGPT), the process of business cycle from concept, to pitch, and even participated in a live pitch. She's developed such an interest in this area that she plans to continue with an internship. We've done a lot of camps and classes, in-person and virtual, and this is by far the best one. Highly recommended for anyone who wishes to give their child an intro to these topics, which are so critical now."
